In raptures.

Just flicking thorugh the latest House and Garden and was thrilled to see an article about the  English design duo behind the company Rapture and Wright.  This husband and wife team create fabrics, wallpapers and accessories and do an exceptionally fine job too. Not stuffy or contrived, but fun and eclectic with a touch of English tradition. Jolly good job chums.
(ps check out the article by blogger and Real Living deputy editor, Natalie Walton on p.170 about her trip to Africa)

A quiz to test your style. (or annoy you)

So here's a pretty picture to temp you..............

The following quiz quiz was recently run in an Australian daily newspaper. Have a go yourself and see what type of style you prefer. I only ask because I can get quite annoyed by this sort of thing. Yes, I know it is a general sort of quiz and it is not designed to completely define a style or a look, but please.........say you like to put a sea shell somewhere and your style is pigeon holed into ''white washed hamptons". And while I am on the subject, what's with the colour thing??? Where is the preference for blue??? Cherry ripe red, rainforest green - and NO BLUE! Are you serious! Sorry, I don't usually get fired up, but stop trying to define styles in such a stereotypical manner. What about just using the things we love, that evoke memories, that have texture or a beautiful shape, or that just look darn fantastic. Don't put me in a box, no siree!
Something to think about for the week end. Have a good one! KG.

Ode to a Hexagon (with apologies to David Hicks)

You are but a simple six sided shape, yet your impact is so great.
I wish you could be mine at home, you're pretty, no mistake.
You come in several colours, I think this one is my fave,
the more I think about you, the more it's you I crave.

MIA with Alex.

Sorry to be MIA yesterday - I am a day behind (what with a long week - end) and a week's worth of unfinished business. Also two very sleepy children were reluctnant to get out of bed this morning...............Anyway, calm and order has been restored, well almost. Until Alex distracted me.

Alex Papachristidis's  intertiors are everything I love about design. A little bit quirky, a little bit classic, a whole lot of colour and hey, maybe a bit rock and roll!  ( also proving the point here in his own home,  that you should mix elements of everything you love! ) Here, here!

Supernice Deception.

I'm not thoroughly convinced wall sticker and decals are 'my thing'. I do love the huge range out there and have always been slow to take up a new trend so you never know. BUT, having said that, let me say this...........I think these are pure genius!!

Well, what do you think? The possiblities for renters are huge (or in fact anyone who likes to change their bedhead as often as their bedlinen). For around $100 this is a steal. Supernice has some amazingly brilliant products from the likes of Thomas Paul and Jonathon Adler and also clever collaborations with talented people like Mina Javid, who designed these bedheads. Deceptive? Of course, but why not?

While chatting to the lovely Louise at Table Tonic (and by chatting I mean emailing!) and looking at her stunning ikat cushions for one of my clients I started thinking (and no, not for the first time!) about this ever appealing fabric..........and look what I found!
Pink ikat curtains...pure bliss! (especially with those blue shades)
The rest of this delightful house owned by Elizabeth Mead is a showcase of soft, girly colours mixed with florals and the ever present pink. I don't know how many boys live here but this house is as cute as a button with loads of style. Not one to over do pink myself( I am more of a blue and green gal), I just love it! What do you think?  Take a look at the rest.........

Didn't I say you would love? Now, to find somewhere for those pink ikat curtains and Louise's cushions.

Rockett on!

Just thought I would share with you a brilliant shop in the UK I found whilst on my travels.............Rocket St George ! A super cool name, and ingenious supplier of British based design and homewares. I should start with their wallpaper.  Remember Michelle's ostrich print?
well......ta da......!

You can purchase it online too. There are also little ostriches (plural?)....

and a range of sporting themed papers.

yes, they are little cricket bats!

How about a Union Jack rug?

Not sure about this but had to show you this table as it is so down right spooky!

and remember I spied these Jeeves and Wooster light fittings in a pub?

They stock copious amounts of fantastic vintage inspired signs and cushions in all colours. And lots of other printed and painted art too........

(now if I was a bit crafty and ransacked my button/badge collection....hmmm)

My absolute favourite. Might have to get one (or two...) of these.

What about this for a boys room......brilliant isn't it!
If you have half an hour  a day to spare you must check out all Rockett's treasures. Don't say you weren't warned.
