Grace and style.

Just to prove that some things never goes out of style.........

here's a fine example.

Stylish, classic and reeking of good taste.

Do we all agree?

(and speaking all all things good, this photo is from my new absolute favourite tumblr, Matchbook. Talk about L.O.V.E)

It has always been you....blue.

Try as I might to branch out in my own home with another colour, I always come back to you, blue.

I am holding off re - doing our living room as it needs some major work and thought.
Either way, I know you ( yes blue sofa, I am talking to you!!) will fit in a treat. I can see one like you in my future, along with a couple of your friends, maybe in a plain blue and piped in white just like your cushion companions. What do you think? When are you arriving.........I need to prepare for you big time so give me plenty of warning. in the meantime, I will look forward to your extended stay.

The Ideal Bookshelf.

Brilliant right?

I mean look no further for an idea for a present right here! Jane Mount is one clever woman and will paint you your very own Ideal Bookshelf !

And if you can bear to give one away,

the recipient will love you forever!
Just send Jane a photo of your chosen 'spines' or just the book names will do and she will work her magic.

I don't know about you but I am thinking a couple of these would go down well on Dec 25th!
Visit Janes Etsy shop and marvel over her cleverness, and whilst you are there pop something in your cart too!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you celebrating it over the next few days, and to the rest of you......
just happy weekend!

Now this is fun.

I love this post title. I use it frequently when I need a heading to describe all manner of things.

Like this cushion for example. Fun - right?
You would always know the time everytime you reclined on the it! : )

And another one. I can see these in a black and white and natural setting, can't you?

In fact they would look right at home in this room. I love this fire place so simple, with its dose of thick white paint.

Forgot to say, if you want to purchase these cushions, head to where else but "Tarjaaay!"

A happy customer.

Let's face it. Things can go wrong in this industry. There are so many opportunities for error. Ordering the fabric, measuring, fabric arriving from far  flung places, workroom interpretation, clear instructions to said workroom so there in no opportunity for above interpretation etc. etc...........

Anyway, one of my "Design on line" customers, the lovely Amy, just sent through some photos of all the new stash she received last week in the post.
Here's what it looked like before it left..........

Don't be fooled, this isn't a selection of electrical goods nor it is fragile, although it is precious!

Yep, 2 boxes crammed to the brim with cushions,

chair covers

and curtains.

Amy is one happy customer and me? Well delighted of course. All the measuring, fabric selection and planning was done via remote, and emials back and forth. Not one word spoken, although I feel I 'know' Amy well enough to recognise her in the street. (not that I will be walking down the main street of a remote Queensland town any time soon, yes this is where this amazing house is located.....)
Thank you Amy for being a dream to work with and if you are thrilled, then so am I.

Pastel Delight.

You know I am a sucker for colour, but when I came across this picture of pastel delight I sighed with pleasure.

Is it the shape of the sofa? Simple clean lines and oh so comfortable looking. Yes, but the colour is prefection, don't you agree? And as I love me a whole lot of symmetry and especially love kissing the cheeks of twin babies (ok, any babies.......) I am in heaven.
It also goes without saying that I don't need to mention the cushion......well, alright then. The cushion, an unexpected touch of embroidered nature. I think the touch of yellow provides just the right amount of contrast with the white and the coral - don't you?

Teen Queen.

Having just finished (well almost..... we are still waiting on a valance to arrive) a couple of teen rooms myself I was interested to see this room by fomer Domino gal Tori Mellott.

The essentials are pretty basic really.  A good desk (one with a bit of style to it please.....) and a colourful chair are non negotiable. ( pin board optional but recommended!)

Bed - king single or double if you can squeeze it in. Fun lighting, storage shelves, pretty bedlinen and mismatched cushions. Did I mention that a little chevron goes a long way?

Somewhere to arrange a little glamour.........

oh, and fun lighting and chevron!
See, easy really! Nicole, if you are reading this I think we just about covered everything, don't you?
After two bigs days at a Christmas fair last week I was just about plum tuckered on the week end. We met some great people and had fun so I will post all the news later in the week. But for now, thanks for being here and have a good Monday!

How do I love thee?

Let me count the ways...........

I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach.
( as Elizabeth Barrett Browing so wisely said)
And because I am not a poet, I will do it in the way I know best. Literally  - here's my count.
  1. king single beds...these look big enough to fit two!
  2. navy and choc. - a winning friendship
  3. a striped rug for balance
  4. symmetry, oh how I do love thee
  5. padded headboard - simple, understated but brilliantly good
  6. fish prints - you can't go wrong
  7. mirror, lamp flowers essential for love.
  8. and lastly, those beds just look so damm inviting.
Anything else to add? Feel free........

Shop Chic.

If you are familiar with Jeanine and her AphroChic blog then you know where I am going with this. If not, then you will be pleasantly surprised.  Jeanine who statrted her career as a policy attorney* (don't you love that word......we just say lawyer here, so uninspiring!*) has been developing her design business and has just put out her first range of cushions, wallpaper and shower curtains!

Make sure visit her Aphrochic shop here and see the rest of her newly released range.

I mean if you are into geometrics and love colour (case in point coral shower curtian) you won't be disappointed!

Can someone tell me why...........

all it takes to bring a smile to my face is a glossy black door?

I have several. One on my pantry, the kitchen door to come in, the kitchen door to go out, the laundry door (which is joined to the outside) and the bathroom door, which also leads to the outside. The black door addiction even prompted my mother in law to tell my son, "can you tell your mother to stop painting doors black?" Now I am planning another. The main entry door will be a beautiful glossy black with two big urns on either side. I have decided that the touch of black on my house is the same as the shoes and handbags to an outfit. The finishing touch.
When you have finished drooling over this door, head on over to the lovely Rachel's blog at Little bits of Lovely as I have taken part in her "5 lovely things I can't live without" series.

(and don't say you weren't warned. I am a shallow creature who likes  big jewels and perfume!)

An apple a day.

I remember seeing this for the first time in SJP Hamptons kitchen and falling in love.

Red kitchen, red  apple - a perfect combination!

It seems the perfect flash of colour in any room really.

And you know what they say about

an apple a day?
Do you think the same goes for a pear?

or both.

Bag your very own Enzo Mari piece of fruit here.

OMG - did you see this? Grant Gibson designed this room for the SF Elle Decor Designer Showhouse.
And double OMG did you see this?

Oh to have talent like this. PVE felt inspired by GG and illustrated this teen room, which by the way has all the elements of good space, no matter what age. Cue bamboo chair, morrocan pouf and zebra, not forgetting the bowl of popcorn.

BTW, any teenager with this wallpaper in their room would be "like totally happy".
Happy week end to you all.

Fabric love.

I have always loved David Hicks La Fiorentina but have yet to use it!

I love looking at the way the pink and red pop against the white walls in this photo.

So many patterns and yet so much to love!

Even this colour combination is winner.
Any one game? How about some faux bamboo chairs........cushions, curtains, a bedhead?
The lovely Michelle Adams was on The Nate berkus Show today....see the preview here. xx

There's a chair in there.......

...and another five as well!
Just thought I would share this picture sent to me by one of my 'Design on line' customers. She ordered 6 of these beauties and couldn't be happier with them.  I  can see why - I would certainly be showering lots of love on these if they were in my home too!
(and the spooky part? We didn't speak one word to each other....not one word! All done by the amazingness that is www) Of course I do love meeting and speaking to my clients but when the results are this good, who's complaining?

Look what came in the post.

I am taking advantage of the high Australian dollar in any way I can.

It would be remiss of me not to.....

wouldn't it?
I need to save these for a quiet moment however while I catch up on a few jobs and make sure all is in production for a pre - Christmas delivery.  Have a good day!

A bit of chaos.

It was a beautiful sunny day when we woke up on Saturday morning and a perfect day for washing.

Well, as frequently happens in my house, one thing led to another and don't ask me how but as I was taking the sheets off the bed and contemplating turning the mattress, this happened........

Yep, that is the sight of my bedroom floor with the carpet ripped up. It had always bugged me and was on the to do list at some stage, but I just pullled at only the teensiest bit in the corner and couldn't stop my self.
This was my bedside table in the morning.
(after I had jemmied the latches off it.....)

We also went to a clearing sale.

There was alot of this type of thing.......

however I came home with this.

A bed.

It was $40 and I am very happy with it!
Sorry I don't have any pretty pictures of my room. I wouldn't dare show it to you.
I can show you this though..........

Its amazing what a bit of paint can do!

As for the barefloor boards in my room? Well, a little carpet shopping is in order, don't you think?
