Bath bliss.

I am a bath lover, always have been......always will be. Anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that I am frequently wallowing in the bath at the end of the day, book in hand. (sometimes a G&T too but don't tell anyone.....) You need to be organised to do this........towel at the ready to wipe you hands/book should they get splashed, table just at the right height to reach over and put said towel/book on, water at the right get the picture. Well, what about this for the perfect solution?

No more soggy pages and hours of reading fun!

I am loving this room, found recently here.

Why?  - you ask! Well, apart from the obviously perfect meld of colour and style it reminds me of a sunroom. I have a sunroom. It CONFOUNDS me. It is freezing in winter, too hot in summer and a sort of thoroughfare the rest of the time. It is handy for extra space and storage, however is one of those rooms which never looks right. I suppose everone has a room like this, but I truly need some direction for it. I love me a black and white tiled floor, but not for my sun/freeze room! That lattice however is very appealing.............wouldn't this be a perfect spot to sit and....well just
Have a great day, am typing this on the road so need to put my head up now before the old car sickness sets in!

If only....

the likes of  these  amazing Spanish ceramics weren't so far away.

Well, it's Spain via San Francisco but that still  feels light years away, especially when transporting such beautifully fragile objects.  Not sure how they would go as hand luggage either, although I am sure it has been done before.
Have a look at the rest of these foreign beauties here, you'll have a cracking good time!

Just for fun.

I recently created this 'virtual room' for one of my lovely clients, so I thought it would be fun to show it to you.

The room owner, a teenage girl, already had the poster so we used those colours as a guide, and while the final design didn't quite end up looking like this, I can't wait to show you the end result! I LOVE creating these boards for people and it is even better watching it all spring up off the screen in to life!
See, told you it was fun!

Wardrobe Obsession.

Yes, I am slowly turning into someone who is spending an awful lot of time thinking about their wardrobe. Not what's in it (that's a whole 'nother story....) but what it LOOKS like. You know, when I get my gown up W. I . R as they say in real estate talk, I want this , this and this. One thing is for sure. These are on my 'must have ' list........... coat hangers!!! Who knew? I am seriously in love with them .
Get them here by the carton.
A little bling never goes astray, even if it is plastic!
(and......the contents of above closet look quite delish, don't they?)
pics from here.
Have a great week end!

Perfect inspiration and some fabrics.

For the many peeps out there who love blue (and you know who you are......long may we unite!) here is a perfect picture for some perfect inspiration. The ikat chairs are heaven and  I am kinda, sorta liking that carpet too......
Here are some blue fabrics I am working with at the moment.

 Nice aren't they?
I am mixing them in with a little coral which seems to be my colour "de jour" at the moment.

I'll be sure to show you when it all comes together!

Awesome and brave.

One of my favourite homeware suppliers has branched out into the world of womens fashion.  Yes,  the creative people at  Orson and Blake have announced their foray in to apparel and I'm excited!

As well as sourincg amazing items for the home, O & B  are now making sure we look great too!
It seems like perfect synergy to me.....

I mean, everybody seems to have done it. Country Road were at the forefront here to combine fashion and home (I know 'cos I was there......) and Zara has done it beautifully in the UK.
What's not to love?
why go to to two places when you pick up one of these

and one of these

at the same time?
Awesome and brave? Totally.

A good mix.

I am a great believer that good interiors don't have to break the budget. Sure, it's nice to have the 'one off' pieces that make a statement and pull a room together, but it's not essential. Case in point......

Now, before I go any further I am not saying this room was done cheaply, but it uses a few elements which anyone could apply.
1. basic white sofas - good starting point and neutral block on which to build your uber chic room (probably most $ here too....)
2. a mix of cushions, only two are the same which leads me to deduce the fabric was possible sourced from off cuts or remnants.
3. I would also dare to say those cane stools things look like an ebay buy and have seen the end of a paint brush or a spray can....)
4. gallery wall a mixture of different pieces possible already owned by this lucky person and arranged to pack a punch. (see how the green lamps pick up the green in the painting which in turn call to their friend the malachite box?)
5. ok, couldn't resist MALACHITE BOX. Reminds me of my days as an Asprey girl in London when everything was malachite and was always being snapped up by Princes from far flung Arabian countries.

Interior design savvy on a  shoestring.
Room bought to you by the clever Sara Tuttle
and all assumptions made by moi.

Oh, and while we are on the subject of gallery walls, have a look and see what Kimberlee has done to her office wall.

Maybe I wil hop on a plane and think of some complicated accounting problem for her to sort out, just so I can stare at that lobster!
.......oh dear, didn't have to think that hard.......

Brown paper packages tied up with string...........

these are a few of my favourite things.........

Oh la la laaaaaaaaahhhhh!

Happy Monday.

Just had to share this!

Seeing as how craft and me just don't mix, (think water and oil......!) I am continually amazed at all the clever bloggers out there showing us their talent. I have someone who crafts for me when I need a special project done, or even to trim a lampshade. Yes, this little lady can't even glue gun a straight line.........
I am feeling a little, well a whole lot inspired by this!

Yes, I know - marvelous isn't it!
Amber from Amber Interior Design created this vision of lovliness and so could you.
She has kindly given us all the info here.
So go forth and create - I might even join you!
Remember my lovely inspiration board?

Well the whole thing went and fell off the wall, bits of inspiration went everywhere.
Just a slight puff of wind and down she came.
To look on the bright side, it's a good opportunity to start a fresh, don't you think?
Oh, and make sure you read the rest of what Amber gets upto. This is one clever and crafty gal! (sorry if that makes her sound like a fox.......) Now, off to find some cork tiles.........

I know I haven't mentioned it for a while, but my love of wallpaper is still as strong as it ever was. I would paper every room in my house if it wasn't for the strapping on the plasterboard that was such a feature in days gone by.
Here's a beauty.........

She's called Marissa. So soft and sweet and calming.............and from Laura Ashley so won't break the bank.
And now for something entirely different.

This was sent to me by my sister in the UK. She loves ANYTHING to do with dogs..........
Even when it involves rabbits and their skeletons.

A close up.
Fun? - yes, calming and relaxing?  - no!
See more of Paperboy's new range here.

BTW, I think this chair for a boy's room in their "D'ya think - e- saurus" fabric range is the bomb!
Sorry for the absence yesterday. Was not a goodie for friends of ours who experienced a devastating loss.
Blogging just didn't feel right. Even now, when the sun is
shining on a new day, their world has been turned upside down forever.

You wouldn't imagine a chair and a clutch bag have much in common, would you? That is unless you have my crazy brain and can justify all sorts of reasons why they do. I am pleased to say that I haven't had to draw any way out conclusions here, 'cos it's blatantly obvious why these two were made for each other........

Isn't it?

That clutch, come make up bag, is high on my hit list right now, as are a multitude of items at Jamie's Furbish Studio online shop. If you want to purchase goodies with the 'wow' factor, then look no further.
She has sourced a brilliant collection of all sorts too numerous to mention, so as they say "do yourself a favour" and head on over for yourself.
Anyway all,  have a great week end!

has it's advantages. When I was not wanting to turn the light on in the wee small hours ( and trying to create the least disturbance for my husband) I was surfing the web, and happened upon this, which almost made me sit bolt upright in bed and punch the air.

Meg Braff's wardrobe which is so full of colourful shoes and bags that I could barely get back to sleep!
The wallpaper is stunning and those glass fronted drawers will get shown to my carpenter!

Her orange sofa would cheer you daily. Infact, I sold cushions like these on ebay last week!
Nice to know Meg and I have at least something in common!
Thanks to House of Turquoise where I stumbled upon all this goodness.
Now, to find me a good strong cappuchino to see me through the day!

And on the subject of books.......

....this is how I like' em!
In fact, you absolutely MUST have a look at this apartment found on Tales of Endearment and owned by Kate Schelter. She is a cute as a button and and has style and panash to boot!

See?  Told you!
AND she can paint.

AND she gets little 'thank you' notes from Anna Wintour.

I wonder if she has any friends in Australia? Do you think she would like one.......I know someone who has their my hand up right now!
Have a look at the rest of her very awesome abode (now I am sounding like my 12yo) here!
Have a good one!

A winner and some butterflies!

I am not really into fads and trends. Feature walls, sticky stickery things and faux antlers all over the place aren't really my bag, but when I saw these cute little butterflies, well - I just had to share.
They won't cost you a bomb either, so when the fad is over or your little princess is sick of them, just remove and throw away! Now that's a trend I like. Where - you may ask............
Well, if you promise not to tell anyone....
Get yours here and they are only $19.95! Yes, I was scoping out el cheapo bed valances and I must say, I have been very impressed with the quality.
   Now - down to business.
The VERY LUCKY winner (can you tell I am a bit envious?)  of these delightful and super addictive and very very pretty Murchison - Hume products is...........

# 6!

Yes, it's you Lyndsey from It's a Date Design!
Get your people to contact my people and we'll talk.
Thank you eveyone for entering - am off to check out Lyndsey's web site!

Book me in!

I love books - I am  happy to read anything really. Reading is reading and I happily ingest anything that comes my way, trashy or otherwise. It is the ultimate form of in my house the bookshelves aren't colour coded or perfectly styled, they are a real life mixture of content, shape and size. That's why these pics. hold a certain appeal.........

Genius use of hallway space.......particularly loving the shelves at the end!

That chair is a perfect spot to settle and read......

Kelly Wearstler even allows a bit of chaos to reign here!

And just because it's super duper fun and a totally BRILLIANT idea - a beach bookshelf!!!!
So I am not saying my bookshelves don't need a little tidying up now and then (in fact this is on the to -do list very soon....) but I think I have to stand a stand on the colour coding bit. What to you think - am I just taking the moral high ground?
To colour code or not - that is the question!
PS. Can I have another day to draw my Murchison Hume competition?
I missed a blogging day on Friday so need an extra day up my sleeve.......

I can? Great, thanks - tomorrow it is then!

Blue Heaven

I am the first to admit that that photo on the wall is a tad whacky (who takes a photo when they are doing the laundry......?)

but that sofa........whoa! SUBLIME in all its velvety navy blueness.
I am particulalry interested in blues at the moment 'cos i am trying to find just the right one for a room I am working on. This one, in my opinion, takes the biscuit.
  photo - Rachel Whiting

I might just use this chunky floor cushion in there as well...............

fun - right?
Get yours here!
