...be it on a chair,

in a dress,

or waiting to be made into curtains.

Sometimes, my love of florals ALMOST eclipses my love for stripes. 

But not very often.

Back to back.

I always think that a large sitting room can almost always benefit from using the ol' back to back sofa trick.  

It works particularly well when there is more than one entrance to the room, which a larger sitting room generally has! I wouldn't go doubling up willy nilly, as the proportion has to be right, but when it it works ........then whammy! 

I love this room. It has my aesthetic to heart. Old and new, sisal matting, blue, pattern, block prints, large lamps, more blue and a touch of red. The seating works for several groups to be in the room and all have their own little spot. 

And shall we talk about those large acorns in the corner...?

Happy Australia Day!

Happy Australia day to all.......It seems the prefect time to share with you this little Aussie gem I found at the local market last Saturday morning. 

It was $5. 

Possibly circa 1970's.

It is full of beautiful colours and shows our wonderful native Australian flora in all its glory. The navy blue frame and background make all the colours pop and I think it will look prefect in the bathroom. 

Don't you just love a bargain....a $5 one at that? 

Whatever you are up to today, have a good one.

I am back from the beach.

Yes, am finally back and in the midst of a swelteringly hot day I am unpacking and shaking sand out of all and sundry! I have had a large rodent in my pantry (and it will be very large now judging by the amount of packets of biscuits it has eaten......) and a snake in the laundry. Yes, that was gasp - worthy but we are setting a trap tonight and really, what better excuse to avoid the washing? 

Anyway......here's to last week and this week and many more beyond.

We had a lovely lazy time drinking coffees, (ok and a bit of wine....ummmmm and the odd G+T!)

walking, meeting new and old friends and just hanging around. 

All the boys at the beack looked soooo gorgeous in these stunning beach shorts, 

affectionately called 'JB's'. 

They come in all manner of bright colours and can be worn on and off the beach.

My other biggie for the summer? We couldn't leave the house without our Hammammas........

Highly absorbent, Turkish beach towels which are easily packed cos there is so little bulk to them. 

Even the baby has one......

Thank you to everyone who left comments whilst I was away. As always I had the bestest intentions of blogging from the beach but my new Ipad wasn't as easy to drive as I thought. Anyone know how to upload photos and images on an ipad? I would love to find out.......

Its another busy week here, what with the rat, the snake and washing and oh yeah.....my clients patiently waiting for me to dust the sand off and begin a new year!

Small and perfect.

So, I have tidied and cleaned and washed and replenished the fridge and pantry after all the Christmas feasting. We are only a few days away from our annual beach holiday which we are all eagerly looking forward to. Of course, this only make my lust for a beach house stronger.....in fact I came across this picture and this is exactly how I would like my beach kitchen to look.

 Nothing fancy, schmancy just this......

I know....barely enough room to swing a cat but we would using the BBQ most of the time anyway right? 

In fact, I could function very easliy in here.....my daily cake could be baked, lunchtime rolls made, and salad and spuds could all be done in here whilst the chops are sizzling away. 

See?.......I am a girl of simple pleasures!
