A great idea for your garden!

I couldn't resist re posting this and although not technically designery in the interior mode, it is something that certainly would instantly jazz up your average outside area. And we like that - alot!

I just love these veggie boxes from the The Little Vegie Patch Co. as seen on that most excellent blog, The Design Files
Whilst my own vegetable boxes lie fallow as I wait for rain and also my husband to top them up with more soil, I am EXTREMELY temepted to tap away and add a couple of these into my online basket. Yes, they deliver them to you and you can even order full of soil and pre planted! what better way to supply your family with home grown veggies?
See....

preplanted!

They also can supply you with all the seeds you need....

I am hooked. Well and truly.
I have just bottled my second lot of chutney from my own tomatos and let me tell you my two bushes are still feeding us daily. There is nothing more satisfying than sitting down to your own produce. (ok, runs a  close second to pulling off a room with the wow factor!)
Ayway, I just need some nice white gravel around my own boxes and am eagerly awaiting the sound of the tractor which will bring me my soil, but in the meantime I may just have to sit on my hands......

Scarf art.

I love this idea.

What better way to display a beautiful and unused silk scarf......we probably all have one of these tucked away somewhere. If not, I suggest a visit to your local op shop and you will most likely be able to find the perfect candidate. I love the way it is 'large art' too.......it will fill a whole space above a dresser or chest of drawers and all for minimal outlay. I actually have the precise spot for something like this.....am off to have a rummage through the 'dress ups'!
Have a great start to the week.

From my inbox.

Haven't done this for a while so I thought I would share with you a couple of things that have popped into my inbox this week and have made me sit up and take note.

My favourite supplier of fold away shopping bags and little zippety ones, Baggu, is now doing laptop and ipad sleeves. You guessed it, the sailor stripe has my name on it!

These divine cushions are ready made and ready to ship! Always tempting for an interior designer when you dont have to order lots of bits of fabric! The pink one at the back is super duper cute!

The lovely people at Temple and Webster have been having such good sales its hard to know which one to take part in. Go for them all, I hear you say....why not!

Must dash now, but will be back later. thats just a snippet.....
Have a good day!

A desk job.

Well, if you are going to have to sit at a desk all day then may it be one like this.

So pretty and sooo much nicer than a bult in one. I have decided that built ins for the home office are ok, but I really prefer something repurposed and freestanding. (code for something found in a garage sale and painted....)
What about you?
(oh, and just in case you were wondering, yes I will be at my desk most of the day today! )

Bear with...........

Okey dokey, so once again I find myself blogging on the run and ill prepared for it! I mean we had a week end away, took two cars, baby gear went one way at the end of the day and baby and I went another! It's hardly surprising that I am not organised to bring you some wonderful designery piece of news this morning, but I just wanted to report in to let you know I aM still here......if not a bit chaotic. Will be seeing a couple of clients today and tomorrow and then back home for Wednesday. In meantime, in the words of my daughters new fave tv show...." bear with"! ( from 'Miranda' which you will either find horribly annoying or side splittingly funny.....)
Edited to say I can't even add a pretty picture as am on my iPad and for the life of me can't work out how to upload one....

Bookshelves

I am interested in bookshelves at the moment, especially ones flanking a fire place. I find these to be exactly to my liking. Not too overbearing and blending in with the overall wall. I know these
things may sound a little obvious,

pic

but it's not until you actually have to think about them do they seem quite important. Of course, the overall look is enhanced by the star of the show, the stone fireplace.
What a restful and inviting room. I know beige is not normally my thing, but in this case I could certainly have my arm twisted!

Hello Lifesaver.

This is how an email began yesterday when it popped into my inbox. 'Hello Lifesaver....'
I have been called many things but never this and am now relishing the title! One of my lovely readers finds my posts a distraction from her daily grind as she ploughs through documents I could not even begin to pronounce.

So on this day when its all about love, here's some random things that I love and that distract me from my daily duties and are always guaranteed to make me smile!
HVD, and thanks Deirde, your little note warmed my cockles!

A simple yet striking vignette,

Coral pink jeans...now there's a thought!

You know me - stripes? Always.

And this......

from a woman who is traumatised from sending her son to boarding school.
Oh, and some Kate Spade love.

The Florence Broadhurst Decor shop is open for business.

Yipee.......

Some people may think...

that Sanderson fabric is dated and fuddy, duddy. Well, I am here to tell you its not. I am so loving sourcing fabric for my clients at the moment and have come across some real gems. When I was looking for birds and branches and foliage for fabric, I stumbled across this....

I know! Pretty wild isn't it? And this from a company you would expect to see chintz and flowers from.
Go Sanderson!
Have a good day.
; )

ps...still looking for the ideal bird, branch foliage pattern...

Did you see this?

I couldn't resist re - posting this. Can you imagine a more stunning setting for a wedding? What a clever idea to use the house as a backdrop for the nuptials? I am so enamored with this whole look. I mean the tables surrounding the dance floor....simple, yet bloody brilliant.
There is blue toile on the tables......

and that bed canopy.......

No more words need except.......
I do, I do I do!
(oh yes, and thanks to Erin at Elements of Style for sharing this!)

A special edition of Domino 'Quick Fixes' will hit the newstands on April 17!

Would there be a lovely US reader of my blog that would be happy to send me a copy?
I 'll make it worth your while!
Let's talk!
Excited?.....yep, you bet.

I would love to think....

...that I have been lolling around on this bed whilst the week gets away from me, but I haven't. I have been busy, really I have. I was in the car for 6 hours today and came home to discover some emails on my computer that didn't quite make it to my ipad, and even more on my phone. I thought I had all my devices perfectly synced but it appears not. I am not going to worry tonight, it will have to be a morning job. (especially since I have had a glass of wine in the meantime)
So, I am taking to my bed. It seems like a good solution.

I will deal with the chaos I have created for myself in the morning.
ps....just LOOOOVE this bed above. Quite masculine but oh so inviting and a wonderfully easy look to achieve.
Night!

Dorms.

I am in a frenzy of wondering what our son is up to at school. I am trying not to ring him all the time as am trying to strike the right balance between over zealous mother and cool laid back one.  I received a text yesterday....."Hi Mum, having a great time at school. Please can you put money on my phone ; D "
Sigh.......at least he is happy and said please.

Now, if I was in charge of the boarding house here's how I would want the dorms to look.

This last one is my favourite.

Enjoy the start of your week!

Missing out.

So I am kind of upset that I am missing out on the goodness in Sydney this year at Decoration and Design. What with a new baby in the house, and getting our boy off to boarding school life has been hectic. It is always a busy week on the school calendar........please can you think about that D & D people when you are planning ahead for next year? Anyway, I am sorry to have missed seeing these rugs in person......

They look almost edible......like sticks of candy.

It is also very lucky for me that the fabulous A - M has toured around the halls quite enough for both of us and shared all her beautiful finds to boot! thanks A - M, you are a star!

I also reeeeeaally wanted to listen to the infamous Marty Lawrence - Bullard speak. Once again, my trusty blogger friends saved the day! Thanks go to Mel at Georgica Pond who not only attended the seminar but got a signed book and photo! (green? just a tad....!)
So really I didn't miss to much at all!
Thank you!

Oh yes, and if you 'liked' D & D on facebook, you also get on the spot updates from the goings on! Genius.
In other news, I have had a shoe named after me which is
perfectly apt as I wear these ALL the time!

I mean ballet flats are 'my thing'.
I am quite liking the phrase 'Belinda is back', it has a mischievious ring to it!
He he.... ; )
Check them out here.
Happy week end.

A pinch and a punch.....

.....for the first day of the month. Yes, Feb already! Its a big day in our household today as we are sending our 13 year old off to boarding school!
I have been sewing name tapes and naming anything and everything. I have also been working on a little something to send him away with. (I won't tell you for how long but suffice to say it has been a work in progress for a considerable time....!)

Please excuse my sewing skills but here is a snippet of the doona cover I made cobbled together from his fathers old shirts. It was a fun job and the shirts are almost vintage! (taken from his fathers days at same boarding school!)

I am rather pleased with the result. It is had lots of extra re-inforcement to withstand the industrial treatment it is about to receive.
Anyway, wish us luck and I'll be back tomorrow. I have packed extra handerchiefs for today's goodbye.......it is the start of a whole new era and very exciting, although I will be pleased once we are at the end of the day! The anticipation has been killing....
(ETA - you can see how the check and stripes thing is not a girl's only obsession in our house....! he he...)
