Soothing Honey.

A very soothing room this morning from the aptly named Honey Collins, using that killer combination of coral and turquoise. It an absolute winner and only enhanced by the  addition of the perspex.

And some more.....

for your viewing pleasure.

I love it when a good colour combo can go from right out of your living room and onto your back....dont you?

.........and those beads, don't get me started!

Fashionable.

I am a sucker for a good stripe, especially navy and white. As I have alluded to before, I have a cupboard full of navy and white long sleeved t shirts, in search of the perfect one. The stripe love, of course manifests itself in my decorating too, as amazingly, I never tire of the crisp lines of stripey curtains and cushions. But I digress, as just had to show you my new lust for winter in the form of.......you guessed it - navy and white stripes!

Add cashmere and the result is pure heaven.
...and not wanting to leave 'the boys' out.

I am also very very partial to to this look.

So, here's where I confess to taking the sneakiest of peaks through Stuart Rattle's windows on my earlier garden tour. Inside, his sofas and chairs are upholstered in the most muted and beautiful strains of tweeds, wools and plaids. I can't describe the sheer elegence of it and the classic tones he has chosen bought gasps of delight from my fellow peeping Toms.
I am away from home for a few days so will leave you to contemplate.
See you next week!

Green Fun.

The title says it all......'green fun'. It's amazing, truly it is, how an impact like this can be achived with a paint brush and a bit of whimsy.
And in kelly green?..........Genius!
Have a good one.

On Tour.

I had a lovely day yesterday, if you don't count being saturated to the skin in an unseasonally cold snap.
I went on a garden tour with a group of like minded 'ladies', as a fundraiser for a local kindergarten. The most exciting part was visiting the gardens, one belonging to interior design guru Stuart Rattle and the other to garden designer extraordinare, Paul Bangay. Let me tell you that when these two talents align in one day, there is an overload of good taste to be had.
Stuart Rattle oozes impeccable taste, in all aspects of his life. Have a look at what I experienced yesterday and you will see what I am talking about.

Yes, this beautifully decorated tea house is in the garden, along with a 'champagne pavillion'.
Please excuse the photos, I was lucky to be able to take them at all with the rain pelting into my face and my hands shaking with cold. Luckily they don't actually portray the nature of the day too much, as by the time we reached  the second garden we were negotiating hail stones as we alighted from the bus. I dont have any photos from Paul Bangays garden as by this stage had my hands thrust firmly in my wet pockets.....

Depsite all this, the day was truly prefect! The picnic we were served was delicious and the company outstanding. I arrived home to thaw out and glanced in the mirror only to find a bedraggled wretch staring back at me.
Thank you must go to the organizsers for such a wonderful day and also to Stuart and Paul (see......first name terms now...) for allowing us into their perfect worlds.

Oh yes, because it was soooo wet we all squeeezed into Stuart's kitchen for morning tea and just for a fleeting second, as I warmed myself next to the Aga, I was transported into that perfect world and imagined it was mine....all mine! He he he........

Colourless.

It's no secret that I like a home with a bit (well....make that alot) of colour. I am intrigued therfore, as to why I like this house so much. It's probably more of lodge than a house but its colour palette is both calming and subtle. Having said that, it still has a strong sense of presence and certainly I could imagine living here. I love how the deisgner has still used plenty of interesting fabrics and the whilst there is a rustic feel about it, this house is definately not hokey!

pics from here...

So, proof is here. Pale can be interesting, and neutral can be a knockout!

Bits and stuff.

Want to know what my comment says under this pic in my pinterest file? "Unbelievably good..." Yep, 'cos thays just how I feel about it this bit of teeny tiny perfection. I would love the opportunity to have a galley kitchen.........even one as small as this. All the essentials are there and while you are waiting for the toast to pop up, one could stare at the artwork on the walls. I don't know about you, but I have tried and tried to have a clutter free kitchen. (make that house......)
I tidy and sort, tidy and sort, take bags to the charity bins and still end up with stuff. My kitchen counter has 'bits' on it. I think I am going to have to stop fighting it and go with the flow. I have to face facts that I am a 'bits and stuff' kinda gal. I do admire kitchens  whose benchtops are clutter free and pristine, but every time I try to achive this, another bottle of oil, wine, bowl, ends up back on top. My utensils are on display too and I have a basket on my table full of newspapers. So, my spaces will NEVER look like they are straight from a mag, and I think thats just the way I like it.
On another note, I have a job for you to do. Please go and have a look at Bumble at Home. If you want interiors to drool over for the week end then you won't be disappopinted!

I am also proud to say that the good people (and dogs) here, are also members of my 'bits and stuff' club, and they do it soooooo well!

Happy weekend!

LuLu LOVE.

I have admitted to you before my embarrasingly consuming crush on Lulu DK. She is the person I most want to emulate. She is arty, creative, gorgeous and ever so stylish with a lifestyle I am green with envy for. So, in realitly, while I just have to put up with being me, I thought I would share with you Lu Lu's latest and greatest creative concept in childrens fabrics for Schumacher.
Feast your eyes.........

I am in heaven. I think she has nailed it......really. I mean a range of fabrics that could easily go from babyhood to a teens years - Brilliant!
BTW, did you see what Lu Lu and her family and friends did for Easter?

You can see why I stalk her so.

Oh Jessie.

So, on my art tour of the world (via the www)  to find some great and inspirational pieces, in the end I didn't need to go very far at all! I found the wonderful Jessie Breakwell right here on my back door step!

Yes, she hails from Melbourne town but her one off works are truly internationally acclaimed.  So much so that the one and only Mary Mcdonald (yes THE MM!) has used one of her dog paintings for a client in the States! If that accolade doesn't put her at the top of her game, then I dont know what does!
Here are some of my faves.....

In fact, they are all divine, so go and take a look for yourself here.

Sigh.....how nice now to know that you really dont have to travel far to find that true talent can be found just around the corner.
 Have a good one!

Back to work.

Well, its been fun but now its back to work. We set off on a little driving holiday which was fun, (especially in a new car) caught up with family and freinds and generally kicked back. The school holidays were too short and today I have been baking 'tuck' to send back with my eldest boy to school this afternoon. Oh, and we had a birthday in the house this morning too so all in all the week has started with a bang.

So order has almost been restored here and I am looking forward to another busy week.
I have plans......lots of them, which include fabric to order, workrooms to liase with and quotes to be completed. I cant help but get distracted though....
I am trying to find artwork for a friend of mine and found this!

I really love it as it is huge, authentically vintage and would make an amazing focal point for the room.
What about you?
Back tomorrow with some more finds from my art tour of the world!

Aspiring.

While alot of people may think a leather sofa is the be all and end all, I am heading in a different direction and aspire towards a pink one! I have lots of pictures on file of pink sofas, and they all have one thing in common. They are all a beautiful pale muted colour, so restful in their appearance that they positively invite you to fall on them and never get up.
Here's the latest image to join 'the club'.

Even that solid table looks right with the pink .
In other news I am starting to think about packing today for a little Easter break. 'Starting' is code for making sure everything is clean and organised for the actual packing process which will begin in earnest tomorrow. Really, we could be going for a day or week and it still involves the same amount of thought. Without sounding too much of a kill joy, sometimes its much easier to stay at home! ☺
