Dens.

I was scouring around for some sitting room inspiration as you do, and eventually typed in 'dens' to see what came up. Well,  here are a few beauties I uncovered.......

I am not offically sure what a 'den' is, except in the more basic animal term! It does conjur up cozy more intimate images however, and I am prety sure the Brady's had one for the bunch to hang around in.

Have you seen.....?

........the home of  Tabitha Simmons on The Coveteur? If you are a follower of theirs on FB (as I am) then you will have already been treated to this, but if not, then humour me as I show you around!

I am especially enamoured with that wall of cupboards and the blue bedhead is a triumph.

Until now I couldn't work out what my house was missing to give it that certain wow factor. You guessed it..........jewells on the taps. I think I will even hang a few dresses around the place just to jazz things up. I might even put a shoe in my kettle!

Lean to....

You know those old cottage with an add on at the back, or 'lean to' as we have always called it? 

Well, I  am always of the opinion that you don't automatically have to knock it off and do the big open plan kitchen living thing. In fact, I rebel against the thought and as long as the flooring and the timber are sound, then lash it with white paint and then just maybe you will end up with something like this. 

  

So any 'knocker - offers' reading this, please reconsider the charm and utter thrill you will feel if you end up with something like this. 

This is going straight to my beach house file.

Hunting and Gathering.

I have just returned from a little trip, hunting and gathering for my clients. It is soooo inspiring to get out and see what's new and actually talk to people face to face, instead of via email. I don't know about the rest of you designers out there, but I always gravitate towards the fabric houses who are constantly in touch and who provide the best customer service. It's like anything........customer service is the key! Here's a sample of a few fabrics (and wallpapers)  I am working with right now. 

OK, so obviously not all wallpaper and fabric. My arm looked really quite interesting as I was driving off.

And you know what? I actually think real people live here.......it's not tricked up to look all display like and 'unliveable'. Yes, its welcoming and real and utterly loveable.

Something special.

I am always endeavouring to find that special something to suit my clients personalities. It can be in the form of fabric, furniture, accesssories, cushions and lighting......the list is endless.  I mean, who wants to engage an interior designer only to find that they are creating the same look everywhere they go?  So, in the quest to find just the perfect fabric or thing for someone, I thought I would share with you some of the beautiful things I have come across. For some reason, its all about birds and fish at the moment! 

Sorry, you can see why I haven't been blogging much this week. Its very time consuming finding all these beauties....nothing to do with running around for after school activities such as dancing, play practice, aerobics (yes, it is still happening in all its 80's glory....) picking up tractor parts, buying groceries, dealing with a baby with her first cold or meetings with the accountant. 

Phew..............let's hope this week is a little more settled!

Something fishy.

I have ordered these fabrics this morning for a client. There are quite a few fishy fabrics out there, but depending on the size and scale (get it......he he!) sometimes it is hard to find just that perfect one. We have settled with these fish which I think will be just right. I am mixing them in the with blue check which has a wonderful oaty background. Ahhhh, it's so good to get fabrics ordered after deliberation.

Of course, there is always another desicion around the corner, but for now I will enjoy in signing this one off.

Tonight....

....I am looking forward to rewarding myself with this! One of my lovely readers, Marsha kindly sent me Domino Quick Fixes and I am looking forward to reading it when the house is quiet, the fires are all stoked up and its just Domino and me! 

Yep, the hubby plans to be on the tractor, my daughter is out for the night at a school function, my son is now finally happily settled at boarding school and my baby is hopefully getting over the last day of a nasty head cold and will sleep like a... err umm baby!  So..........please, planets can you align so that all of the above can take place and Domino and I can share some quality time? 

Thanks again Marsha - you have made this girls night! 

   PS - I have had a super effective day after yesterdays rant, so the reward will be even more sweet.....

I am in a whirl.

Yes, literally. I am not sure if I am feeling the after effects of a 'baby brain' but my mind seems to be in a constant whirl. I am all over the place. I am sourcing fabrics, wallpaper, helping someone with a bathroom and built in robes and just generally working my way through my to - do list. At the end of the day I feel as though I haven't completed a thing.......what is that? (don't worry any of my lovely clients reading this as I am working on your jobs, I truly am!) but arghhhhhhh...my desk is a mess. 

Here's a smidgen of my desk....I wouldn't dare show you the rest. I am madly in love with this wallpaper though, it is the perfect blue.

I also have to show you this. 

This is the latest member of our family and she is delicious. 

I want to go to the hairdresser some time soon.

Now, don't laugh. 

I really, really, love this hair. I know - I am not blonde and really what hope do I have but this is such good hair that I will take this pic with me when I finally book myself an appointment. 

 Am off to keep chasing my tail....

(and to possibly look into blonde highlights and teeth whitening....he he!)

Really....?

It's been over a week since my last post so sorry for my absence.....its a long story but suffice to say I am back home and as busy as a little bee. Think of me, won't you, as despite the unseasonably sunny days I will be in the office all week catching up.
